In this study, we critically revised and updated the checklist of native vascular plants of Mongolia. The checklist comprises 3,041 native vascular plant taxa (2,835 species and 206 infraspecific species) from 653 genera and 111 families, including 7 lycophytes, 41 ferns, 21 gymnosperms, and 2,972 angiosperms. In the angiosperms, we identified the 14 families with the greatest species richness, ranging from 50 to 456 taxa. Species endemism is also noted here; 102 taxa are endemic to Mongolia, and 275 taxa are sub-endemic that co-occur in adjacent countries. Since 2014, a total of 14 taxa have been described new to science based on morphological evidences. Moreover, five genera and 74 taxa were newly added to the flora of Mongolia. Based on our critical revisions, names of three families, 21 genera, and 230 species have been changed in comparison to the previous checklist, "Conspectus of the vascular plants of Mongolia" (2014).

Qianbai biyan tablet (QT) is a compound prescription of traditional Chinese medicine which is used to treat nasal congestion, rhinitis, and nasosinusitis, with Senecio scandens as its main plant material. Several pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) were reported in Senecio scandens and others of Senecio species. Although Senecio scandens is assigned as the legal plant material of QT, whether replaced use of it by other Senecio plants can bring toxicity is unknown because of the lack of quantitative data about toxic PAs between different Senecio species. In the present study, adonifoline, senkirkine, and another PA presumed as emiline have been identified in QT; however, there was no senecionine detected in all tablets. PA contents in QTs varied in different companies and different batches. Adonifoline existed only in Senecio scandens , and senecionine was detected in all eight Senecio plants investigated in the present study. Data showed that replaced use of Senecio scandens with a low level of senecionine by other Senecio plants such as Senecio vulgaris containing a high level of senecionine is advertised to be forbidden. Data of the present study may be used as a reference to make new drug quality regularity and recommendation guideline for the safety of QT.

The list includes 124 families, 503 genera and 1640 species (Containing subspecific units), of which 569 species (Containing subspecific units), 56 genera and 6 families represent first published records for Xiao Hinggan Ling. The aim of the present study is to document an updated checklist by reviewing the existing literature, browsing the website of National Specimen Information Infrastructure and additional data obtained in our research over the past ten years.This paper presents an updated list of tracheophytes of Xiao Hinggan Ling. The list includes 124 families, 503 genera and 1640 species (Containing subspecific units), of which 569 species (Containing subspecific units), 56 genera and 6 families represent first published records for Xiao Hinggan Ling. The aim of the present study is to document an updated checklist by reviewing the existing literature, browsing the website of National Specimen Information Infrastructure and additional data obtained in our research over the past ten years. New information This is the first complete checklist of tracheophytes of Xiao Hinggan Ling. A total of 1640 species and subspecies are listed, of which 569 species (ontaining subspecific units) represent first published records.

A new eremophilenolactone sesquiterpene was isolated from the roots of Senecio ambraceus. Its structure was elucidated as 6beta-angeloyloxy-eremophila-1(10),7(11)-diene-12,8beta-lactone on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including IR, electron ionisation mass spectrometry, high-resolution electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy.

Ten pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) were isolated from Senecio ambraceus, Senecio arcticus, and Nonea pulla growing on Mongolian pastures and meadows. Because of the contained toxic PA, these plants are suspected of causing cattle poisoning, which is reported in the literature and also in personal reports from local farmers and herdsmen. The structures of the PA were elucidated using spectroscopical methods. S. ambraceus contains the toxic PA senecionine, seneciphylline, and otosenine. In S. arcticus, senecionine can be found too, besides the non-toxic PA platyphylline, neoplatyphylline, and acetylplatyphylline. Nonea pulla is shown to contain the 0-7 isomers lycopsamine and intermedine as well as their 0-7-acetylderivatives. Besides the first mentioned acetylplatyphylline, all PA were already described in the literature.
